About the position

Are you an experienced Theatre Unit Manager or Shift Leader ready to take responsibility for the clinical and operational management of a theatre unit? This opportunity in Lenasia, Gauteng is suited to a Theatre-trained nursing professional with strong leadership and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day clinical and operational activities of the Theatre unit.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with professional nursing standards and hospital policies.
  • Provide effective leadership, guidance and support to nursing and theatre staff.
  • Coordinate staff allocation, duty rosters and shift requirements to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Monitor compliance with infection prevention, patient safety and quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure that theatre procedures, policies and protocols are consistently implemented and maintained.
  • Monitor the availability and appropriate use of theatre equipment, stock and other resources.
  • Support staff development, performance management and ongoing clinical training within the unit.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records and ensure that required audits and quality processes are completed.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration between the Theatre team, medical practitioners and other departments.
  • Assist with managing operational challenges and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with the SANC code, applicable healthcare legislation and professional standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing.
  • Relevant Nursing Management qualification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Unit Manager or Shift Leader within Theatre.
  • Compliance with the SANC Code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable healthcare legislation.
  • Compulsory Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and shifts.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy theatre environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
