Transition Manager - Position Brief
Gravitron Special Effects | Contract Position

Position Overview
Gravitron is seeking an experienced Transition Manager for a 4-month contract to lead critical organisational development and systems implementation. This role will directly support the Managing Partner in creating the infrastructure needed for sustainable business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities (in order of priority)
1. Support Managing partner in Organisational Transitional Leadership process

  • Develop and document a clear transition roadmap for the company's evolution aligned to existing strategic goals
  • Develop, document and implement change management processes
  • Identify and document the tasks and responsibilities for delegating Managing Partner responsibilities
  • Systems Development & Implementation
  • Map current organisational structure and processes framework
  • Complete comprehensive job descriptions for all existing and new roles.
  • Create KPA's performance metrics for each position and link this to KPI's of Gravitron.
  • Design and document critical business processes
  • (Specifically) Our project management system
  • Quoting and scope management system
  • Client feedback and approval process. (Maybe google review or client feedback after completion)
  • Creative problem-solving process, at various levels of decision making.
  • Staff onboarding program- Create onboarding materials specific to Gravitron and the film industry.
  • Recruitment
  • Assist the Managing partner with the appointment of the following critical positions
  • Fabrication Manager
  • Administrative Assistant
  • Engineering/mechanical design specialist.
  • Research and Development (Lead?)
  • Tasks include: Document role descriptions, identify recruitment channels, advertise positions, filter applicants, communicate with prospective applicants and arrange interviews, attend interviews with Managing partner and provide input in final candidate selection.
  • Update appointment contracts and finalise for new positions.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications:

  • Business Science degree with project management certification (PRINCE2)Key Competencies:
  • Self-directed with excellent initiative
  • Exceptional organisational and analytical abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently without getting lost in details
  • Strong administrative and documentation skillsPreferred Experience:
  • Previous work in creative industries or manufacturing
  • HR systems development
  • Small to medium business environment
  • 5+ years' experience in organisational development or business transformation
  • Proven track record in systems design and implementation
  • Experience in change management and stakeholder engagementWorking Arrangements
  • Contract Duration : 4 months (with potential for extension)
  • Compensation : R50,000 - R60,000 per month
  • Location : Cape Town (on-site/hybrid arrangement to be discussed)
  • Start Date : As soon as possibleReporting Structure
  • Reports directly to: Managing Partner (Kobus Verhoef)
  • Weekly structured check-ins plus ad-hoc meetings as required
  • Clear authority boundaries to be established during onboarding

Success Metrics (End of Contract) (double check when rest of document is revised and completed)

  • New positions successfully recruited and onboarded
  • All job descriptions completed with defined KPA's and associated Business KPI's
  • Critical business processes documented and implemented
  • Transition roadmap developed and communicated to all staff
  • Year-ahead priorities clearly defined and actionableApplication Requirements
