About the position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and supporting TDS (Tivoli Directory Server) LDAP environments, along with strong knowledge of Linux, AIX, and DB2. The role also requires expertise in log interpretation using Splunk and local Linux logs, as well as proficiency in IBM Websphere V 10.0, particularly in environments running Absa.
Key Responsibilities:
- TDS (Tivoli Directory Server) LDAP Environment:
- Manage and support the Tivoli Directory Server (TDS) LDAP environment.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of the LDAP infrastructure.
- Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of TDS.
- Administer and maintain Linux and AIX servers.
- Manage DB2 databases, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Ensure system integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
- Utilize Splunk and local Linux logs for monitoring and analyzing system performance and security.
- Identify and resolve issues by interpreting log data and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain log management and monitoring solutions.
- Administer and support IBM Websphere V 10.0 environments.
- Deploy, configure, and manage Websphere applications.
- Ensure optimal performance and reliability of Websphere servers.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support various projects and initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents as needed.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in managing TDS (Tivoli Directory Server) LDAP environments.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, AIX, and DB2.
- Proficiency in log interpretation using Splunk and local Linux logs.
- Extensive experience with IBM Websphere V 10.0, particularly in environments running Absa.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Shell, Python).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
