About the position
A well-established multidisciplinary company within the built environment is seeking a motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join their team in Centurion. Reporting directly to the Executive: Operational, this role offers an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional to contribute to a variety of structural and infrastructure projects while supporting business development and operational growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and oversight of structural engineering projects rom concept through to construction completion. This position is ideal for a proactive and solutions-driven individual who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Structural Design & Engineering:
- Design and analyse structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
- Utilise engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000, and related design tools.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and engineering standards.
- Review and approve structural designs and technical documentation prepared by junior engineers or consultants.
Site Management:
- Oversee on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with approved design specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections, quality assurance assessments, and progress evaluations.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and site teams effectively.
- Resolve technical and construction-related issues that arise during project execution.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, within budget, and according to agreed timelines.
- Maintain accurate site documentation, progress reports, and compliance records.
Business Development:
- Support the identification and pursuit of new business and project opportunities.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, tender submissions, and project cost estimates.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project discussions.
- Contribute to marketing initiatives and growth strategies within the engineering division.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. A Master's Degree will be advantageous.
- Professional registration, or eligibility for registration, will be preferred.
- 3-7+ years' experience in structural engineering and construction project environments.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis, engineering design principles, and building regulations.
- Experience in site supervision and/or construction management.
- Proficient in structural engineering software including AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar tools.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
