Our client, a well-established business within the building materials industry, is seeking an experienced Store Manager to oversee the daily operations and performance of a high-volume store. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing operational efficiency, driving sales, ensuring excellent customer service, controlling stock, and leading a team to achieve business objectives.
This role requires a strong retail leader with proven experience within the building materials sector and a hands-on approach to managing store operations.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations Management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the store to ensure efficient and profitable performance.
- Ensure operational procedures and company standards are implemented and maintained.
- Monitor overall store performance and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, merchandising, and store presentation.
Sales & Business Performance
- Drive sales growth and achieve monthly and annual targets.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and customer retention.
- Monitor sales trends and identify growth opportunities.
- Ensure customer requirements are met through effective product availability and service delivery.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Oversee stock ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory control processes.
- Conduct stock counts and manage stock variances.
- Ensure effective stock rotation and minimise losses, damages, and shrinkage.
- Maintain adequate stock levels to support customer demand.
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead, motivate, and manage store employees.
- Conduct staff scheduling and monitor productivity and performance.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members.
- Foster a positive and results-driven work culture.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained.
- Manage customer complaints and provide effective resolutions.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Support key accounts and customer retention initiatives.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Monitor budgets, expenses, and store profitability.
- Manage cash handling and financial controls.
- Prepare operational and management reports.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, or related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Store Manager role.
- Previous experience within the building materials industry is essential.
- Strong experience managing stock, sales, operations, and staff.
- Sound financial and business management experience.
- Computer literacy and experience with retail systems.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
