About the position
Well established East Rand based company seeks a Service Manager from mining / manufacturing industry.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with proven leadership skills and a hands-on management approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop and field service operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technicians and service support personnel to achieve high performance and quality standards.
- Coordinate workloads, allocate resources, and manage service schedules to ensure customer commitments are consistently met.
- Monitor workshop productivity, turnaround times, and service quality, implementing improvements where required.
- Provide technical guidance on complex equipment repairs, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and testing.
- Ensure all workshop activities comply with company procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Manage workshop tools, equipment, spare parts, and consumable stock to maintain operational efficiency.
- Review and maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, maintenance documentation, and related administrative processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical service enquiries, providing practical solutions and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Work closely with internal departments to support business objectives and continuously improve service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
- Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline advantageous
- At least five years' experience in a technical service, workshop, or maintenance management environment
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities on mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
- Good understanding of workshop operations, maintenance planning, and service coordination.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and workshop management systems.
Desired Experience
Candidates with experience in industrial equipment, hydraulics, manufacturing, mining, engineering services, heavy machinery, rotating equipment, or similar technical industries will be highly regarded.
