About the position
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to manage and deliver medium-sized projects from initiation through to successful completion, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, budget, timelines and quality standards.
The Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional project teams across business and technology environments, ensuring projects remain aligned with strategic objectives and client requirements.
The role requires a strong combination of project governance, Agile delivery, stakeholder management, financial management, risk management and project controls, with the ability to provide leadership and guidance to project teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects from commencement through to completion, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, budget, quality and timelines.
- Develop, maintain and manage detailed project plans, schedules, milestones and deliverables.
- Ensure successful implementation of Agile software projects, with a strong focus on quality and alignment to business objectives.
- Provide expert guidance to project teams regarding processes, systems, tools, methodologies and delivery standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams across the organisation.
- Identify project stakeholders, define their roles and responsibilities and establish appropriate stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Facilitate effective engagement between diverse stakeholder groups and ensure regular communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build strong professional relationships through ongoing engagement and transparent communication.
- Gather, analyse and confirm client and business requirements and ensure alignment to the agreed project scope.
- Manage project scope and ensure appropriate controls are in place to prevent uncontrolled scope changes.
- Maintain traceability of project requirements and agreed benefits throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and manage deviations from agreed scope, schedule or delivery expectations and escalate where required.
- Manage project delivery against agreed timelines and schedules.
- Manage project financials, including budgets, forecasts, expenditure and financial controls.
- Apply appropriate governance, risk and control frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, track and manage project risks, issues, dependencies and constraints.
- Provide accurate and regular project reporting to Programme Management and relevant stakeholders.
- Use appropriate project metrics and status reporting to provide visibility of project progress and performance.
- Facilitate project meetings, workshops, status sessions and governance forums.
- Ensure appropriate project documentation and governance artefacts are maintained throughout delivery.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project teams and encourage the adoption of Agile best practices.
Education & Qualifications
Essential
- Professional Qualification and/or Honours Degree or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Relevant field of study such as:
- Project Management
- Business Management
- Commerce
- Information Technology
- Related discipline
Certifications
Relevant certifications would be advantageous, including:
- Project Management certification
- Business Management certification
- Certified Scrum / Agile certification
- PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification
Experience
- Approximately 7–10 years' overall professional experience.
- Strong experience working within a project delivery environment.
- Ideally 5+ years' experience in a Project Manager role.
- Demonstrated experience managing medium-sized and/or complex projects.
- Experience working with cross-functional business and technology teams.
- Experience delivering projects within structured governance, risk and control environments.
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder and client engagement experience.
