About the position
Summary of Role
The Senior ICT Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering complex, multi-site ICT infrastructure programmes across the organisation. This role ensures projects are executed on time, within budget, and aligned to strategic technology goals, including cloud, network modernisation, security (Zero Trust), and healthcare platforms. The incumbent provides leadership across project teams, manages senior stakeholders and vendors, and ensures strong governance, risk management, and audit compliance while driving continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex ICT infrastructure programmes across multiple sites, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Manage full project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, governance, and closure
- Oversee programme risks, issues, and compliance with regulatory and organisational standards
- Drive financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and vendor contracts
- Engage and manage senior stakeholders, including executive leadership, clinical teams, and external vendors
- Ensure alignment to enterprise architecture, security frameworks (e.g. Zero Trust), and strategic platforms (e.g. EHR, cloud)
- Establish and maintain project governance, reporting, and audit-ready documentation
- Lead vendor performance, contract negotiations, and SLA management
- Mentor and develop junior project managers and build delivery capability within teams
- Drive continuous improvement, quality assurance, and adoption of best practices
Requirements
Skills
- Advanced project and programme management (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP methodologies)
- Strong ICT infrastructure knowledge (networks, cloud, servers, security, hybrid environments)
- Proven stakeholder management at executive level
- Risk, compliance, and governance expertise (audit, regulatory environments)
- Financial and commercial management, including vendor negotiation
- Knowledge of modern architectures (ZTNA, hybrid cloud, EHR platforms)
- Leadership, mentoring, and team development
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of IT service management and security principles
Qualifications
- Matric and a NQF Level 7 qualification (Degree or Advanced Diploma in ICT, Engineering, or Project Management)
- PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent certification
- 12+ years ICT experience, including 8+ years in project/programme management
- Proven experience managing multi-site or multi-stream infrastructure programmes
Preferred:
- Postgraduate qualification (Honours, MBA, or PGDip)
- ITIL v4 Foundation, Agile/SAFe certification
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
- Exposure to enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
