About the position
Our client, a leading payment aggregaor and payment solutions provider, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst in their growing Finance team based at their Head Office in Stellenbosch.
This role focuses on enabling data-driven decision-making, improving data structures, and supporting business reporting across the organisation.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-directed individual with strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse and maintain an understanding of the SQL Server data environment, including data structures and flows.
- Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries.
- Translate business reporting requirements into data solutions.
- Write and optimise SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
- Build and maintain Excel-based reports and dashboards.
- Perform ad hoc analysis to support business decision-making. Identify and recommend improvements to data structures and performance.
- Support testing, validation, and data quality processes.
- Assist business users with data and reporting queries.
- All other tasks related to the role.
Minimum requirements:
- Degree in a relevant quantitative field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Finance).
- 8-10 years’ experience in a similar data analysis role.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience documenting data architectures, data models, or data dictionaries.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain Excel-based reports and dashboards.
- Strong communication skills in English with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
- Own reliable transport.
Advantageous:
- Experience with data modelling or database optimisation.
- Exposure to Power BI or similar tools.
- Python
- Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery practices.
- Experience in fintech, payments or financial services.
