About the position

Dynamics of the Role

The company is seeking an accomplished Senior Advisor: Commercial Transactions to provide expert, business-centric legal support across the company and, where required, the broader international organisation. The Senior Advisor will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, own complex commercial negotiations, and enable revenue growth by delivering high-quality, strategic legal guidance. This role is critical in balancing commercial opportunity with legal, regulatory, and operational risk, and requires exceptional drafting mastery, judgement, and the ability to operate confidently in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.

How You will Contribute

  • Provision of business-focused end-to-end commercial legal support all African operations of the company Africa and its subsidiaries, as well as the wider international business as may be required from time to time;
  • Lead drafting, negotiations, reviewing and legal sign-off on commercial agreements including complex commercial agreements, proposals, tender documents, and any other document of a legal/binding/potentially risk or cost intensive nature;
  • Review and final sign off on legal related matters including agreements, product development, consumer engagements etc.
  • Relationship management, training, and reporting.

What You will Bring

  • We are looking for a minimum LLB Degree (or similar) with (8) eight years' post-qualification experience and a minimum of 4-5 (four to five) years' transactional and commercial drafting experience within fast-paced industries.
  • Strong commercial and legal experience within a highly regulated / services industry.
  • Experience in the following areas is necessary: Experience across commercial and corporate law, IP data privacy, competition commission, and other ancillary legislation as well as associated regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting technology-based, service-based, managed services, software licensing, outsourcing, and/or consulting agreements, strategic partnerships, and reseller/affiliate agreements with a good understanding of contracting/risk issues.
  • Expert drafting and negotiation skills with the ability to structure complex commercial models, lead strategic negotiations, and produce enforceable, commercially-aligned contract language
  • Ability to translate business/technical concepts into actionable legal clauses
  • Enabling the business with practical, commercially oriented advice
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment and proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of transactions independently.
  • Accomplished negotiator with an understanding of principle-based negotiation strategy and tactics including the ability to present pragmatic alternatives with proposed solutions
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • This position may require travel.
