Senior Accountant

About the position

A well-established company based in the Southern Suburbs is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Finance Manager. 
Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Accounting or Finance qualification (BCom Accounting, Financial Management, SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior accounting or finance role
• Extensive hands-on experience working on Sage 200 Evolution
• Strong knowledge of the full accounting function
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and financial reporting
• Sound knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and other statutory requirements
• Experience within a trading, distribution, manufacturing or industrial environment will be advantageous
• Experience with inventory, costing, imports and foreign suppliers will be beneficial

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting function including month-end and year-end processes
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports
• Oversee debtors, creditors, banking, reconciliations and cash flow management
• Manage purchasing, inventory controls and stock valuation
• Prepare annual financial statements and coordinate the external audit process
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax requirements
• Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring strong financial controls and efficient processes
• Maintain accurate financial records and provide management with reliable financial reporting
• Resolve Sage 200 Evolution accounting and reconciliation queries
• Liaise with auditors, banks, tax practitioners, customers and suppliers
