About WITS MRU:
- WITS MRU is a division of the Wits Health Consortium under the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of the Witwatersrand
- We are committed to supporting the millennium development goals aimed at gender equity, maternal and child health and combatting HIV
- These guide our work which focuses on sexual and reproductive health with research being conducted in PrEP, microbicides, barrier methods, service integration, and contraception
- We conduct clinical, behavioural, operations and implementation science research and support health systems strengthening including capacity building and technical support
Main Purpose of the Job:
- To provide best practice data collection, clinical assessments, comprehensive counselling and management, collection of specimens and care according to protocols.
- To screen and enrol participants into the study, and to conduct
- on-going follow-up based on the research protocols
Location:
- WITS MRU Durban - The Atrium, Peter Mokaba Ridge Road, Overport, Durban
Key performance areas:
- Recruitment and screening
- Conduct physical examinations and clinical assessments
- Collect participant data from medical notes and complete CRFs
- Maintenance of records/documents
- Provide appropriate health education and adherence counselling where necessary
- Clinical and study administration
Required minimum education and training:
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
- A valid driver’s license
- Microsoft Office computer literacy is essential
Professional body registration:
- Registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Diploma in Primary Health Care or similar will be an advantage
- Dispensing license
- Certification in good clinical practice (GCP)
- Ordered and systematic with strict compliance to protocols
- Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
- Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
