About the position

Primary Purpose of the Role
To design commercially viable, brand-aligned uniform ranges that meet client needs and can be manufactured efficiently within budget and profitability targets. This role serves as the key liaison between sales, pattern making, production, and marketing-translating customer briefs into strategically aligned designs that reflect brand identity, current trends, and local relevance, while ensuring production feasibility and cost efficiency.

The role oversees the entire design process, from concept development through to production- and pattern-ready outputs, integrating trend research, fabric continuity, and stock analysis throughout. It also manages all bought-out items to ensure profitability and alignment with bespoke customer ranges. Close collaboration with the Marketing Manager ensures that the right products are promoted and accurately represented across all marketing channels. One direct report, the graphic designer, supports this role by translating concepts into technical line drawings.

Key Accountabilities
(Performance will be measured against the following responsibilities)

  • Translate customer briefs into practical, on-brand, cost-effective designs that are well aligned with production capability
  • Lead concept development for bespoke customer ranges, considering fabric, stock, trends, market relevance, and ease of manufacture
  • Manage the selection and sourcing of all bought-out items to ensure commercial viability and range cohesion
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to align product messaging and ensure accurate representation in marketing and sales materials
  • Partner with the sales team to support customer presentations and bespoke range development
  • Conduct ongoing trend, fabric, and garment research-locally and internationally - ensure you act as lead role in sharing this insights with the business
  • Fit and adapt garments to ensure appropriate styling, comfort, and consistency across varying roles, sizes, and body types
  • Maintain supplier relationships and negotiate initial pricing, quality, and delivery in conjunction with the Procurement Manager
  • Deliver detailed design briefs and range rationale tools for internal stakeholders and clients
  • Oversee and manage the graphic designer in developing accurate technical drawings and visual assets from approved concepts
  • Attend trade shows and fabric fairs to stay ahead of market and trend developments
  • Contribute to the development of internal sales tools, visuals, and promotional content.

  • Desktop computer - needs to have Microsoft Office capabilities - word, PowerPoint, excel. Creative applications knowledge would be beneficial.
