About the position

Production Manager: Pharmacist (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)
A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing environment specialising in anti-venom production is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager: Pharmacist to join the team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven professional with strong pharmaceutical manufacturing expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for quality and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily production operations to ensure maximum output in a cost-effective and compliant manner.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and pharmaceutical regulatory standards.
  • Implement and maintain Quality Assurance processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee equipment calibration and maintenance to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Manage departmental assets, procurement processes, and consumables to support uninterrupted production.
  • Compile, review, and distribute management and production reports.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff to maintain high-performance standards and GMP compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation in line with GMP regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist
  • Minimum 6 years' experience within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
  • At least 1 year experience in aseptic processing
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of GMP requirements, aseptic techniques, sterilisation methods, and validations
  • Knowledge of OHSA and basic financial principles
  • Strong leadership and management capability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Computer literacy
