Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership within the Energy – Gas, Fuel and Chemicals business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating strategic business plans into measurable outcomes, driving profitability and growth, managing key customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities. The role requires strong leadership across operations, financial management, SHEQ, risk, governance, talent management, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic and operational plans to achieve business objectives, including profitability, revenue growth, cost control, fleet utilisation, operational efficiency, and agreed KPIs.
- Drive business development and customer relationship management within the Energy, Gas, Fuel and Chemicals sector, including contract negotiations, key account growth, stakeholder engagement, and identification of new business opportunities.
- Provide overall leadership across operations, financial performance, SHEQ, risk and compliance, talent management, transformation, supplier management, and continuous operational improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Transport, Logistics Management, or a related field.
- Relevant Business Management qualification advantageous.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a senior management role within a transport operational environment.
- Proven experience within trucking and transport operations.
- Experience in General Freight, Chemical and/or Hazardous Cargo.
- Cross-border transport operations experience.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including P&L accountability.
- Proven track record in strategic customer relationship management.
- Experience presenting and negotiating at Senior Management and Board level.
- Extensive knowledge of the Energy, Chemicals, Freight and/or Abnormal Transport industries.
- Sound understanding of transport-related legislation, labour legislation, and Bargaining Council agreements.
- Strong knowledge of transport operations, hazardous cargo, and cross-border transport requirements.
- Experience managing Operations, HR, Finance, SHEQ, Risk and Governance functions.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Passport.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including advanced spreadsheet modelling.

- Strong analytical, commercial, financial, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous performance improvement.
