About the position
Mine Planner, Rustenburg, North-West
Our client, a mining company, is seeking a Mine Planner responsible for designing, scheduling, and managing short-term mine planning activities for open pit operations. The role ensures safe, efficient, and responsible extraction of ore in line with operational targets, statutory requirements, and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Mine Design and Scheduling
- Prepare daily and weekly mineral extraction plans and production schedules in line with monthly targets.
- Update mining layouts daily and weekly to schedule resources for production rates.
- Compile and reconcile daily and weekly plans and schedules.
Mine Planning
- Obtain, interpret, and validate mining production rates, geotechnical information, and other factors.
- Identify and manage risks affecting planning.
- Report variances in weekly schedules within span of control.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a mine planning environment (short-term and long-term).
- Proven open pit mining experience.
- Proficiency in mine planning software (preferably Datamine).
