The Role: Millwright
As a Millwright, youll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of cable manufacturing equipment through expert maintenance, repair, and installation. This position is hands-on, technically demanding, and vital to maintaining production output and plant safety. Youll be a key contributor to uptime, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum 3 years experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment required
- Conduct mechanical and electrical maintenance on cable machinery (extruders, pullers, winders)
- Diagnose and repair faults, replace parts, and perform precision alignments
- Install, commission, and upgrade equipment and systems as required
- Calibrate machine components and adjust parameters to meet cable quality standards
- Conduct safety inspections and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Accurately document all maintenance and breakdown activities
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and SHEQ teams on equipment reliability
- Supervise contractors and mentor junior technicians as needed
About You
- Qualified Millwright with completed Trade Test and Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid Code 08 Drivers Licence (forklift/crane licence is a bonus)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience in cable or electrical wire manufacturing is advantageous
- Proficient in English (Afrikaans a plus) written and verbal
- Safety-focused with knowledge of SHEQ principles and OHS risk assessments
- Able to remain calm under pressure and perform in high-output environments
- Technically adaptable with excellent problem-solving and reporting skills
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, improvement-driven mindset
