About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
A fast-growing AI Product and InsurTech business is building next-generation AI agents that operate inside real-world business environments, handling live customer interactions, automating workflows, and delivering measurable commercial outcomes within a regulated insurance environment is looking for a Mid-Level Business Analyst who can operate confidently in ambiguity, translating high-level business vision into structured, build-ready specifications for engineering teams. This is not a traditional documentation role, but rather a highly analytical, product-focused role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex business problems, challenging assumptions, and shaping AI-enabled products from concept through to delivery.
DUTIES:
- Lead business discovery sessions with stakeholders to uncover true business needs and operational pain points.
- Map current-state business processes and design improved AI-enabled workflows.
- Own requirements gathering from discovery through to delivery, testing, and acceptance.
- Translate executive vision and business objectives into structured, build-ready specifications.
- Write detailed Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Define system inputs, outputs, acceptable behaviour ranges, human intervention points, and escalation workflows.
- Identify edge cases, failure modes, exception handling, and operational risks as part of requirements definition.
- Challenge assumptions using data, process analysis, and stakeholder interrogation.
- Run structured workshops and facilitate alignment across conflicting stakeholder priorities.
- Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, retrospectives, and Agile delivery ceremonies.
- Maintain requirements traceability throughout the full product lifecycle.
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership teams to ensure successful delivery.
REQUIREMENTS:
Business Analysis
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Product Analyst.
- Proven experience owning delivery from discovery through implementation.
- Strong experience gathering, analysing, documenting, and validating business requirements.
- Ability to work confidently with vague, evolving, or incomplete requirements.
Process & Documentation
- Strong process mapping skills using BPMN, UML, or similar methodologies.
- Experience writing PRDs, user stories, functional specifications, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience maintaining requirements traceability throughout delivery.
Agile Delivery
- Strong experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Exposure to sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and delivery ceremonies.
Data & Analysis
- Ability to query, interpret, and validate data using SQL, Excel, BI tools, or similar.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to challenge assumptions using data.
Stakeholder Management
- Strong facilitation, workshop leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Comfortable challenging executives, business owners, and operational teams when clarity is required.
- Ability to navigate competing priorities and conflicting business objectives.
Advantageous:
- Experience defining requirements for AI products, automation platforms, recommendation engines, decision-support systems, or non-deterministic products.
- Experience designing workflows where human review, exception handling, and escalation paths are required.
- Exposure to regulated industries such as Insurance, Financial Services, Healthcare, or Compliance-driven environments.
- Experience with MoSCoW prioritisation or similar structured prioritisation frameworks.
- Product delivery experience within startup, scale-up, or product-led environments.
