MECHANICAL ENGINEER (ECSA Candidate)

A Project Management & Consulting Engineering firm in Middelburg, Mpumalanga - looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Join our dynamic Project Delivery

Key responsibilities:
Ensure that mechanical engineering activities on assigned projects are executed in
compliance with project procedures, standards and specifications and in accordance with the
requirements of the Project.
- Perform designs for Engineering Studies and Projects.
o Efficient and accurate design of mechanical systems such as raw material feed
systems, cooling piping systems, pump selection, vessel design, etc.
o To sign off on concept/basic/detail mechanical designs produced for complex
projects, as applicable.
o To support a team of engineers, technicians and draughtsman to accomplish the
above, all within the agreed constraints of time, costs and quality.
o Supervise the work of assigned subordinates on the project.
o Provide progress report information, at the required frequency and with the required
content, to the Lead Project Engineer.
o Contribute to the technical and economic assessment of project feasibility studies.
- Advise on deficiencies and changes to the established design methods, standards and data.
Accept responsibility as requested for development and maintenance of expertise in specific
areas of pyrometallurgical technology.
- Carry out technical investigations, including development of computer programs and produce
technical reports as and when required.
- To develop and strengthen the company’s technical portfolio through implementation of
company technologies, industry best practices and tools.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- General Mechanical Design and coordination with team members and draftsman.
- Conduct CFD/FEA simulations, hydraulic systems, etc. using simulation packages. Review
and check simulations.
- Provide information, where necessary, for estimating the cost of project components or
contract changes. Alert the Lead Project Engineer / Project Manager to circumstances
considered to constitute a contract change.
- Keep abreast of, by all possible means, technical developments in mechanical industries and
make recommendations on methods of improving the company’s competitive position from a
technical standpoint.
- Review and approve project schedules with the Lead Project Engineer to see that all dates,
rates of progress and design periods are realistic.
- Notify the Lead Project Engineer of all deficiencies in the flow of data or other basic
information required for execution of work.
- Development of new equipment/components to improve inhouse technology.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in the Pyrometallurgical industry an advantage.
- Mechanical Design (Structural, Hydraulic, Feed Systems, etc.).
- CFD/FEA Software proficiency an advantage.
- CAD Design an advantage.
- Basic Project management skills.
