About the position

Logistics controller 

To efficiently manage the collection of recyclables from suppliers.
To manage the maintenance of collection fleet and equipmen.t
To ensure services levels are achieved by the collection department.
To manage risk related to the collection of material.

Main responsibilities 

• Monitor vehicle refuelling daily.
• Fuel reconciliation daily and weekly.
• Optimal route scheduling per vehicle.
• Completing bin utilization register daily to monitor volumes.
• Daily update of vehicle input sheet and monitoring the cage volumes collected.
• Escalate to procurement department below payload collections.
• Liaising during the day to check progress on collections according to SOP.
• Monitor collections throughout the day with an aid of a tracking system.
• Ensure that route sheets are completed daily and that vehicles are utilised economically.
• Escalating futile trips to management and correct invoicing.
• Issuing of PO to suppliers for collections scheduled.
• Attend to service difficulties by liaising between drivers, procurement and suppliers to resolve issues.
•  Ensure that all collections are done in time and no unnecessary backlogs are experienced due to driver inefficiencies.
• Contact drivers before end of day to confirm collection that will not be done.
• Scheduling of collections.
• Management of functions reporting to this position.
• Discipline to final written warning of the above.
• Service levels – Drivers and Driver buyers
• All drivers to have the necessary PPE.
• Vehicle inspections daily.
• Fire extinguisher – serviced 6months.
• Masks, sanitisers, face shield.
• Report hazards requiring attention, accidents and incidents.
• Assist with incident / accident investigations.
• Identify H&S and driver training needs and schedule training with HR where necessary.

Requirements 

• 2-5 years’ experience in logistics environment or fleet management.
• Grade 12
• Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy-Microsoft, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety act Road Traffic
• RTS regulations and general requirements.
• Be able to communicate at all levels.
• Be able to work under pressure.
• Demonstrate good administrative and analytical.
