About the Opportunity.
An exciting senior management opportunity exists with one of our leading municipal clients in Gauteng. The municipality seeks to appoint an experienced Manager: Legal within the Corporate Support Services Department to lead its Legal Services Division.

What You Will Be Doing.

  • Provide strategic legal leadership and oversight of all legal and labour relations matters.
  • Draft, vet, and review contracts, by-laws, and agreements.
  • Manage litigation processes, including liaising with attorneys and advocates.
  • Oversee disciplinary and grievance procedures and ensure compliance with labour laws.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation, policies, and municipal regulations.
  • Lead and mentor a legal team, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement in legal operations.

What You Must Have.

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
  • Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (essential).
  • 8 years' relevant legal experience, of which 5 years must be at management level.
  • Sound knowledge of local government legislation, MFMA, LRA, and municipal by-laws.
  • Excellent drafting, litigation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
