About the position
Not many legal roles give you a seat at every major deal. This one does. Is this you? You're an admitted attorney with around two to five years' post-admission experience, ideally gained in Renewable Energy but if not, then banking and finance, corporate Commercial, M&A, project finance or even litigation could work. You're confident without being arrogant, enjoy taking ownership, ask thoughtful questions and don't wait to be told what to do. You thrive in a demanding environment, work well under pressure and have the resilience to deal with strong personalities while remaining professional and solutions focused. What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) Reporting directly to an experienced Head of Legal, you'll receive hands-on mentoring while supporting every stage of large-scale infrastructure projects. Your work will include drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, assisting with project development, managing financial close workstreams, supporting banking and finance transactions, corporate structuring and regulatory matters, while coordinating closely with commercial, technical and finance teams. What you'll need An LLB together with admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa is essential. Around two to five years' post-admission experience within a commercial legal environment is preferred, with exposure to Banking & Finance, Corporate Commercial, M&A or commercial contracts. Renewable energy experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Strong drafting skills, commercial acumen, sound knowledge of the Companies Act, excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office will set you up for success.
