Role Overview
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of security engineering within a modern cloud-native environment. You'll be responsible for strengthening platform resilience, advancing security automation, and helping shape the long-term security strategy across the business.
Working closely with engineering, infrastructure, and product teams, you'll drive initiatives across detection engineering, cloud security, infrastructure as code, automated response capabilities, and secure software delivery. The Stack
- Building and evolving security capabilities across a cloud-first environment
- Driving detection engineering and improving visibility across systems, applications, and infrastructure
- Developing automated responses to security events and indicators of compromise
- Improving platform resilience through load testing, security simulations, and proactive engineering practices
- Embedding security controls directly into CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code workflows
- Implementing policy-as-code and automated security gates to strengthen software delivery
- Working closely with engineering teams to improve security throughout the development lifecycle
- Enhancing monitoring, alerting, threat detection, and incident response capabilities
- Contributing to cloud security architecture and platform design decisions
- Establishing standards that improve operational security and long-term maintainability
- Mentoring engineers and helping develop a proactive security culture across the organisation
You'll Fit In If...
- You hold a relevant qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- You've spent 10+ years working in DevSecOps, Cloud Security, Site Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related disciplines
- You stay current with developments across security, cloud technologies, automation, and AI
- You have deep hands-on experience securing cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Infrastructure as Code is second nature to you and you've implemented security controls through automation
- You understand networking, cloud infrastructure, containers, application security, and modern deployment practices
- You've worked with SIEM, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, threat detection, or security monitoring platforms
- You enjoy automating repetitive tasks and improving systems through engineering
- You are comfortable operating across security, infrastructure, engineering, and operations teams
- You have experience mentoring others and elevating technical capability within a team
- You enjoy solving complex technical problems and building practical, scalable solutions
- You are comfortable making decisions, navigating ambiguity, and taking ownership of outcomes
- Experience with AWS networking and compute services, containerised environments, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native architectures, security tooling, and modern web application stacks would be highly beneficial.
