Our Client is looking for a Key Accounts Manager – Public Sector Utilities(Meters) to join their team
Location: Johannesburg - Sandton
Purpose of the Position
Manage and grow strategic relationships with key public sector clients, including national state-owned water and electricity transmission and distribution companies, as well as metropolitan municipalities across South Africa. This role involves both developing existing accounts and pursuing new high-value customers to ensure long-term client satisfaction and sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement account strategies for key public sector customers.
- Maintain a deep understanding of client operations, challenges, and strategic objectives.
- Engage consistently with client stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts.
- Actively pursue new key accounts in the public utilities sector.
- Lead negotiations and close high-value deals with key public sector clients.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with decision-makers at all organisational levels.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
- Represent the organisation in client meetings, industry forums, and strategic discussions.
- Develop account plans, revenue forecasts, and growth targets.
- Monitor account performance and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Analyse client feedback and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Solutions, Operations, and Finance) to ensure effective delivery of tailored solutions.
- Provide input to product development teams based on client needs and feedback.
- Support the rollout of new products and services within key accounts.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in key account management, business development, or strategic sales within the public utilities sector.
- Proven success in managing large public sector accounts and securing new business.
- Strong understanding of public sector procurement and regulatory frameworks.
