About the position
Our client, a leading Chemical Manufacturing company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Junior Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- The development of conceptual designs.
- Doing costing and proposal developments and developing Gantt charts/project timelines.
- Obtaining quotes and submitting Capex requirements.
- Contractor management and project progress reporting.
- Day-to-day contractor oversight.
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning of the plant.
- Financial reports on project cost.
- Supporting the project manager on projects across sites.
- Ensure that all relevant engineering standards and best practices are incorporated into all installations.
- To actively seek to improve processing techniques in conjunction with the Plant teams to achieve reduction in cycle times and utility consumption.
- Champion energy management programs and tracking.
- Investigate process deviations and find solutions.
- Assist with implementing the company's process safety program across all sites.
- Champion the MOC process and chair HAZOPs / risk assessments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Qualification in chemical engineering, preferably a BSc or B Eng.
- 3-5 years' experience in a chemical process environment
Competencies:
- Ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines, attention to detail, commitment.
- Knowledge and experience with PSM and LSS
