About the position

Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Junior Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to join a dynamic and growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, excellent reconciliation skills, and solid VAT experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accounting records, cashbooks, and account reconciliations accurately and timeously across various entities
  • Prepare VAT calculations and reconciliations and assist with the submission of VAT returns to SARS
  • Prepare and submit EMP201 returns
  • Assist with payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and payroll reporting
  • Support senior accountants with the preparation of working papers, audit files, and annual financial statements
  • Assist clients with accounting queries and provide professional support where required
  • Assist with responding to SARS VAT queries, audits, and verifications when required
  • Prepare management and financial reports for both internal and client use

 
Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting
  • Experience working with multiple clients or entities is advantageous
  • Strong VAT processing and reconciliation experience is essential
  • Experience with cloud accounting systems such as Xero and QuickBooks
  • Understanding of payroll processes and EMP201 submissions

 
Software Knowledge
Experience working with the following systems will be highly advantageous

  • Xero
  • QuickBooks
  • Sage
  • SimplePay
