About the position

INTERNAL SALES COORDINATOR
Location: Pinetown, Kwazulu-Natal 

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS: 
- Degree in Engineering field/Technical experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in technical internal sales 
- Experience in technical industry (pumps, compressors, valves)

ROLE OVERVIEW: 

This role will provide comprehensive technical and administrative support to the sales function, with the following: 
-Ensuring the effective handling of enquiries
-Quotations, orders, and customer follow-ups.
The role focuses on supporting internal and external sales teams, delivering value-added technical solutions (particularly within pumps and related products).
Minimum requirements:

  • Post-matric qualification in Engineering (ND/BTech/BEng in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, or Chemical).
  • Approximately 2 years’ experience in internal sales.
  • Experience in a company specialising in technical products such as pumps, compressors, and valves, serving an industrial customer base in the food, beverage, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, or plastics sectors.
  • Experience working with agents, distributors, or resellers is advantageous.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Experience in pump sales or other technical products is advantageous.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Internal Sales Duties:
    • Provide strong back office support for all sales activities, internal and external.
    • Assist customers with technical enquiries and issue accurate quotations nationally, including via email, telephone, and in person.
    • Spec competitor pump equivalents and offer solutions to customers.
    • Read and understand pump graphs, bills of materials, and drawings.
    • Understand product-to-application fit (training is provided).
    • Prepare quotations using price lists, suppliers, intranet systems, and global factory communications for pumps, spares, repairs, field services, and systems.
    • Prepare system proposals and supporting documentation write-ups.
    • Ensure the completion of the sales process from enquiry to successful delivery and payment.
    • Proactively follow up on offers and liaise with customers regarding the status of orders and back orders.
    • Retrieve order numbers, process proforma invoices, and follow through with implementation.
    • Support the branch manager and external colleagues when on the road.
    • Order local buy-out products.
    • Assist in deliveries and collections.
    • Update company SharePoint documents and LeanKit daily.
    • Develop the Company’s business in the province by practising value-added selling and upselling.
    • Perform lead generation for key segments, uncovering new opportunities via websites or existing customers.
    • Assist in growing key business units.


  • Accounting / Administrative Duties:
    • Retrieve supplier quotations and invoices and process supplier purchase orders.
    • Action debtors reports for outstanding payments owed.
    • Send invoices and statements and collect payments from customers when required.
    • Control and reconcile petty cash.
    • Complete sales reports for senior management when required.
    • File all documents.
    • Source parts required for all non-Company products.
    • Assist walk-in customers.
    • Assist in deliveries and collections of stocks, supplier parts, and pumps for service.
    • Prepare spares and pumps for delivery or collection by customers.
    • Provide follow-ups for business unit growth.


  • Stock Control Duties:
    • Keep control of all Durban stock.
    • Order stock for MRP and customer orders from the head office weekly.
    • Perform cycle counts and stock counts.
    • Receive, count, and sign off on stock.
    • Control stock in the warehouse and coordinate incoming and outgoing stock.


  • Other Duties:
    • Prepare marketing material for the branch when required.
    • Purchase monthly office consumables.
    • Coordinate customer events such as golf days, roadshows, lunches, and refreshments when required.
    • Adhere to all health and safety requirements and assist in their upkeep.
    • Drive continuous improvement and lean development within the business.
    • Achieve business plan targets and align with the company's core values.
    • Assist in meeting the branch’s key performance indicators.
    • Carry out any other duties requested by senior management.
    • Adapt duties as required, as they are subject to change.
