Industrial Psychologist at YM Group Consulting

About the position

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Industrial Psychologist to join our dynamic team,
specializing in medico-legal assessments and expert report writing. The ideal candidate will
have a strong background in vocational assessments, psychometric testing, and preparing
detailed reports for use in legal proceedings. This role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in the intersection of psychology and law, especially in cases involving personal injury, loss of earnings, and/or capacity to work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive medico-legal assessments for RAF, personal injury, and medical negligence cases.
• Administer and interpret psychometric assessments related to cognitive, emotional, and vocational functioning.
• Compile expert reports with defensible recommendations regarding work capacity, loss of earnings, and employability.
• Liaise with legal professionals, medical experts, and case managers as needed.
• Stay up to date with relevant case law, assessment norms, and ethical guidelines.
• Testify in court when required as an expert witness.
• Ensure all documentation complies with HPCSA and legal standards.

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology.
• Registered with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist (Independent Practice).
• Minimum 3 years' experience in medico-legal work (preferred).
• Strong report writing and psychometric interpretation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Valid driver's license and own transport (if travel is required).
• Professional indemnity insurance (advantageous).
• Willing to travel around the country.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with RAF guidelines, legal terminology, and medico-legal processes.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Ethical, professional, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable giving expert testimony under cross-examination (advantageous).
