About the position
Key deliverables:
Database Administration:
Install, configure, and upgrade IBM DB2 databases and log analysis tools.
Monitor database performance and tune parameters for optimal query response.
Manage database objects (tables, indexes, views) and ensure data consistency.
Log Analysis & Audit:
Use IBM DB2 Log Analyser to track changes (before/after images) for compliance and audit reporting.
Generate detailed reports for SOC analysts and business teams on data changes by user, date, and table.
Support security monitoring tools like Imperva and QRadar for incident investigation.
Backup & Recovery:
Implement robust backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
Reduce downtime by isolating and reversing affected transactions instead of full restores.
Performance & Optimization:
Conduct proactive database health checks and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Optimize SQL queries and manage high-availability environments.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure database security, encryption, and compliance with organizational standards.
Control access permissions and maintain audit trails.
Server Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on servers.
Ensure server updates and security releases are up to date.
Experience:
Experience working in a production support environment on z/OS DB2.
Minimum 5 years' experience as DB2 DBA in an IBM® z/OS environment.
Working knowledge of Mainframe (MVS), DB2 for z/OS, WINDOWS Operating systems, SQL, CICS and JCL.
Batch operations and MVS architectures.
Minimum Requirements:
Preferred Skills:
DB2 v11 or v12 or v13 in a z/OS environment Certification.
Understanding of a database management tool e.g. Performance monitor, schedulers, e.g.
SQL and/or Rexx coding to automate routing tasks.
Basic AIX / Linux system administration and resource monitoring.
Ability to analyse application logs and identify root causes of issues.
Experience with automation scripts for monitoring and maintenance is a plus.
