About the position
Our client is looking for a Head Office Accountant to join their team.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for calculating, processing and reconciling Group accounting entries. You will also be required for providing reports on Group costs, productivity, margins and expenditures.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing monthly Group journals
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensuring supplier agreements are aligned with the company's policies and procedures on creditor terms and rebates management, and that the ERP system is updated accordingly
- Establishing and maintaining productive relationships with suppliers and the merchandise team
- Calculating and processing rebate accrual journals
- Calculating actual rebates received and ensuring suppliers are invoiced timeously
- Reconciling accrued amounts to actual rebates received
- Ensuring all rebates are collected timeously
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations relating to rebates
- Forecasting and tracking of volume rebates in collaboration with the Merchandise Department
- Preparing accurate monthly reports for submission to management
Driving efficiencies relating to the rebates function through involvement in projects across functions
Assisting with standardisation of financial accounting policies, procedures and processes across Group companies
- Monitoring adherence to financial accounting policies and procedures
- Assisting with financial projects across Group companies
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- B Compt (Hons) with articles (SAICA or SAIPA)
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience
