About the position
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering consulting client based in Pretoria, seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (Tailings) to join their growing team. Assist in the design, analysis, and monitoring of tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and related geotechnical structures
Support senior engineers with geotechnical investigations, data analysis, and reporting
Contribute to the preparation of design reports, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Conduct site visits, inspections, and construction monitoring as required
Perform geotechnical modelling and stability analyses under guidance
Ensure compliance with engineering best practice, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
0-3 years' experience in tailings or geotechnical engineering (internships / vacation work beneficial)
Strong technical and analytical skills with exposure to geotechnical concepts
Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., GeoStudio, Slide, PLAXIS) advantageous
Strong communication, report-writing, and problem-solving abilities
Willingness to travel to site when required
Interest in pursuing a career in the mining-tailings or geotechnical sector
