About the position
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Field Service Engineer to join our Johannesburg team. In this role, you will provide on-site service, technical support, repairs, and calibrations for industrial power tooling—including pneumatic, electronic, handheld, and fixtured tools. You will play a key part in ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service delivery, accurate reporting, and effective technical communication.
This role requires a hands-on, self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently, managing customer expectations, and travelling to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Service Delivery
- Provide technical service, maintenance, and support to customers through regular on-site visits.
- Perform tool repairs, fault finding, troubleshooting, and overhaul of industrial power tooling.
- Conduct calibrations and preventative maintenance tasks according to ISO and laboratory procedures.
- Deliver field service support for electronic, pneumatic, handheld, and fixtured tools.
- Support customers during breakdowns — both telephonically and on-site when required.
Customer Engagement & Reporting
- Conduct routine customer visits and provide technical assistance, guidance, and training where needed.
- Provide written reports on repairs, findings, and incidents as required by management or customers.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, calibrations, and workshop documentation.
- Offer advice and feedback to customers to ensure optimum use of their equipment.
Installation & Project Work
- Plan and manage the installation of equipment at customer premises.
- Ensure all repair, service, and calibration documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Work collaboratively with sales teams and customer representatives to support technical queries and equipment solutions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Engineering Diploma/Degree or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, or Mechatronics
- 1–3 years’ experience in a technical, field service, maintenance, or repair role (industrial tools or similar equipment advantageous).
- Valid driver’s license (essential).
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong problem-solving, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Organized, self-driven, and able to manage customer expectations professionally.
- Willingness to travel, work outside normal hours when required, and respond in emergency situations.
