A well-established and progressive farm on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast (hinterland) is seeking a Macadamia Farm Manager to manage farming operations. 1. Coordinate and execute all aspects of macadamia farm operations within specific timeframes, including:a) Land maintenance and developmentb) Chemical and nutrition programsc) Pest scouting and managementd) Irrigatione) Pruningf) Harvesting, curing and post harvest crop handling.
2. Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency of farm operations, equipment and work practices, providing ongoing suggestions and improvement.
3. Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to team members.
4. Manage all operational activities and ensure staff productivity at all times.
5. Liaise and collaborate with consultants and specialists on orchard management, people management and occupational health and safety.
6. Develop and implement farm management plans, including budgeting, resource allocation and maintenance schedules.
7. Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, incorporating innovative practices into farm operations.
8. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and environmental regulations.
1. Joining the senior management team in securing the Estates property and interests and holding fast to the values and standards expected of its employees.
2. Assisting in other enterprises within the Estates-holdings which will involve weekend duties.
1. A minimum of 10 years' experience in managing all aspects of macadamia farming, including harvesting, irrigation, nutrition, chemical programs and machinery.
2. Experience with leading and managing staff and teams.
3. Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and innovative agronomy techniques, specifically Integrated Pest Management within macadamia farming.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for producing plans, reports and schedules.
5. Proficient in Zulu/Xhosa or Swazi.
6. An interest and experience in livestock (Beef) farming would be advantageous.
7. Be willing to working towards an industry certification or standard.
