Working Hours & Conditions:
- Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 17h00.
- Weekly Sales Meetings: All sales staff must attend sales meetings when required. A calendar invite will be sent in advance (at least 48 hours).
- External Consultants: May begin their first appointment directly from home.
- A minimum of 4 sales calls are required, per day.
- Saturday Work: Required on a rotational showroom duty basis. All sales, whether made externally or in-showroom, remain your sales and count toward your turnover.
- Sundays & Public Holidays: Not required, unless a public holiday falls on a Saturday (then open). This may change subject to business requirements.
Reporting Requirements
- Weekly Submission: All call sheets must be submitted to management by Friday each week.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
- Establish, nurture, and expand relationships with existing and new customers to secure specifications that achieve assigned sales targets.
- Consistently meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets by maintaining a strong and healthy sales pipeline.
- Drive the full sales cycle, from prospecting and customer engagement through to quotation, product specification, order confirmation, payment, and delivery to site.
- Proactively identify potential customers through direct methods (cold calling, site visits, face-to-face meetings) and indirect methods (networking, referrals, and industry events).
- Qualify prospects in line with company criteria and develop strategies to convert them into long-term customers.
Customer Consultation & Relationship Management
- Engage with prospects to understand business challenges, timelines, decision-making processes, and budgets.
- Present product solutions and recommendations that align with customer needs and project specifications.
- Conduct presentations and product demonstrations to senior managers, architects, contractors, and other key decision-makers.
- Provide accurate and professional quotations, proposals, and related correspondence via the company's POS and communication platforms.
- Maintain regular contact with customers to ensure satisfaction and build long-term partnerships.
Market & Product Knowledge
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of tiling products, industry trends, competitor activity, and market opportunities.
- Provide feedback to management on emerging trends, competitive threats, and potential gaps in product offerings.
- Collaborate with procurement to ensure product availability aligns with project timelines and customer expectations.
Reporting & Administration
- Accurately enter and maintain customer and sales data across company databases, ensuring consistency and integrity of information.
- Prepare and present weekly sales activity reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates during sales meetings.
- Keep detailed records of customer interactions, quotations, and project progress for reference and follow-up.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with marketing to identify sales support requirements and assist in developing improved sales tools and materials.
- Share industry knowledge, sales insights, and experiences with colleagues to strengthen the team's collective expertise.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Act as a positive brand ambassador, consistently representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
Requirements
- Proven track record in external sales, ideally within the tiling, ceramics, construction, or building materials industry.
- Strong business development skills with the ability to identify, pursue, and close new opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to understand technical specifications and translate them into value-driven solutions for customers.
- High level of self-motivation, resilience, and results orientation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and POS platforms.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly to meet clients and visit project sites.

Remuneration:
- Base Salary: R20,000 to R25 000 (at the company's discretion) per month (gross).
- Fuel Allowance: R3,000 per month (reimbursed at month-end, subject to valid fuel slips and call reports).
- Cell phone Allowance: R1,000 per month, SIM card provided (company retains ownership of the number). Handset not included.
- Commission will be earned on sales in accordance with the Commission Structure Annexure provided separately. All sales remain attributed to you, regardless of whether concluded externally or in the showroom.
