About the position
Are you a qualified Electrician with ammonia refrigeration experience seeking a new opportunity with a fast-growing company?
A well-established organisation is looking for an experienced Electrician to join its technical team in Durban.
This role is suited to someone with a strong maintenance background who is confident working within industrial, warehousing or cold storage environments, ensuring electrical systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
- Diagnose electrical faults and implement effective repair solutions
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime
- Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Test electrical circuits, motors and control systems to verify safe operation
- Maintain DB boards, lighting systems and facility wiring
- Complete maintenance documentation and service records accurately
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety and quality standards
- Assist with general plant maintenance and be available for breakdown call-outs when required
Minimum Requirements:
- National Trade Certificate (Electrician) / N6 Electrical or equivalent
- 7–10 years' experience in industrial electrical maintenance
- Valid Wireman's Licence (Installation Electrician)
- Experience working on high-voltage systems up to 11kV and 6.6kV
- Sound knowledge of SANS 10142 and electrical compliance requirements
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience fault-finding on 220V/400V motors and electrical systems
- Exposure to VSDs/VFDs and refrigeration plant electrical systems advantageous
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Computer literate and willing to work overtime or attend emergency call-outs when required
