About the position

Postion Summary:
iThemba LABS is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a GMR2 legal appointment in terms of OSHA [URL Removed] of 1993.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform GMR2 functions as per legal requirementsOperation of electrical systems and switchgear of high-voltage systems (11 kV)Maintenance of electrical power plants and large UPS systems up to 8 MVAManage operational safety of all electrical systemsTraining and development of electrical trainees and apprenticesMaintain all electrical repair & maintenance records, specifications of installed electrical equipment and electrical test reports

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:

• 5-5 years

• BEng /BTech in Electrical Engineering (NQF 7)Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) in Electrical Engineering

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant working knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems, up to and including 11 kV
• Large UPS (motor/generator set) experience

Knowledge:

• Computer literateExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to plan and work independently

Additional Notes:
The incumbent may be required to perform certain tasks in areas exposed to ionizing radiation.
