About the position

Our client is recruiting for a debtors' clerk with foundational accounting knowledge and experience in the workings of financial processes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing debtors' accounts, processing payments, confirming end-of-day banking schedules and reconciling bank accounts. A strong attention to detail and confidence in engaging with clients is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Capturing client payments
  • Attending to client and/or management queries
  • Confirming credit limits and releasing invoices subject to credit approval
  • Confirming end-of-day cash and card transactions
  • Keeping track of and following up on over and under transactions
  • Following up on overdue payments

  • Reconciling Bank statements

  • Capturing large retailer payments and actively engaging with stakeholders to resolve queries
  • Sending customer statements
  • Actively monitoring and applying company policies relating to customer credit limits, overdue amounts and problem clients
  • Escalating queries for hand-over

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' working in an accounts department for a SME
  • Foundational knowledge of customer accounts
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills
  • Matric with Maths and Accounting
  • Tertiary financial qualification advantageous
