About the position
Profile Summary:
To implement the strategy and business processes required to create, maintain and enhance data, be responsible for the daily management of a critical data asset and provide governance oversight to an allocated data set in order to maximize value, align data to business priorities, improve data quality, reduce cost of data management, and increase confidence in data integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide input into the definition of data processes and standards.
- Embed data policies, standards, tools and best practices within the data domain of responsibility.
- Provide input into domain-level data architecture and data management best practices.
- Evaluate existing information management landscape and produce report for areas of improvement.
- Attend relevant information management working groups and implement requirements accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with internal policy, regulatory requirements and data practice standards.
- Interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Develop data service level agreements (SLAs).
- Document business term definitions.
- Create and maintain reference data and master data definitions.
- Ensure reference and master data management processes address uniformity, accuracy and accountability across entities.
- Maintain metadata, data quality rules, Enterprise Data Model (EDM), reference data and records register, where applicable.
- Publish relevant metadata and monitor usage, relevance and quality feedback.
- Create and manage business metadata for published data sources to ensure discoverability and usability.
- Respond to and co-ordinate resolution of data quality issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Assess access requests and monitor user access and usage of owned data sets.
- Define and obtain sign off on information management measurements and provide input into metrics.
- Provide accurate and reliable reporting, analyze trends and support business decisions in line with compliance and governance requirements.
- Accumulate information to review work progress and identify improvement opportunities.
- Present reports on improvement opportunities for prioritization and decision making.
- Define information management requirements and drive implementation.
- Participate in data related projects and align data activities to remediation initiatives.
- Drive activities of the Segment implementation roadmap and take ownership of the maturity roadmap for relevant Business Unit.
- Deliver initiatives that improve information management maturity.
- Apply understanding of data management and business processes to solve business problems.
- Specify information management objectives and benefits and obtain stakeholder sign off.
- Serve as a change agent for information management and present trends and best practice to management.
- Consult on data workflows, master data security and access rights.
- Promote best practices and recommend efficiencies to ensure data integrity.
- Develop understanding of information flow, system architecture and underlying data structures.
- Provide training or awareness on data management disciplines.
- Provide advice on new tools to improve business efficiency and profitability.
- Identify and recommend solutions to support business requirements and partner with stakeholders to develop optimum solutions.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science or related field
- 4–5 years of experience in Data Governance / Information Management
