About the Role

A leading agricultural finance institution is looking for an experienced Credit Manager to join its Risk Management team. This role is responsible for managing credit applications, assessing risk, and supporting sustainable financing solutions for commercial and emerging farmers.

You will play a key role in ensuring sound credit decisions, managing risk exposure, and supporting business growth within the agricultural sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed credit assessments and financial analysis
  • Manage end-to-end credit processes for new, existing, and restructured deals
  • Approve loans and credit limits within delegated authority
  • Present and recommend deals to credit committees
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and risk frameworks
  • Coordinate and manage credit committee meetings (RCC, PCC, Pricing Committee)
  • Provide technical support and guidance to stakeholders and credit teams
  • Engage with clients and branches to assess business viability
  • Monitor portfolio performance and address audit findings
  • Contribute to the improvement of credit policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant 3-year qualification (e.g. BCom, BTech)
  • BSc Agriculture (advantageous)
  • 5 - 8 years' experience in credit management

Experience in:

  • Commercial/business banking credit
  • Deal structuring
  • Financial and credit analysis
  • Structured trade and commodity finance
  • Business restructuring

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of credit risk and compliance principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of business and legal principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Ability to work extended hours when needed
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
