About the position

A leading agricultural finance institution is seeking a driven and analytical Credit Analyst to join its Commercial Banking and Transformation team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in supporting sustainable agricultural development by delivering sound credit decisions and innovative financing solutions across the agri-value chain.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Risk Management

  • Conduct in-depth financial and credit analysis for new and existing clients
  • Compile and present detailed credit submissions to relevant committees
  • Evaluate loan applications in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Perform ongoing portfolio monitoring, including annual reviews and re-advancements
  • Assess collateral and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and regional offices
  • Provide expert guidance on credit-related matters and lending criteria
  • Support and train stakeholders on credit policies and processes
  • Foster a strong culture of risk awareness and compliance

Governance, Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness at all times
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions where required
  • Prepare and manage reports on credit applications and portfolio performance
  • Support credit committee processes, including documentation and coordination

Policy & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to credit policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks
  • Contribute to the enhancement and continuous improvement of credit policies
  • Provide input on lending norms, product structuring, and risk frameworks

Minimum Requirements

  • A 3-year tertiary qualification in Commerce (Accounting, Agricultural Economics, or Credit Management)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in credit assessment and financial analysis

Experience & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and portfolio management
  • Experience in structuring deals (asset finance, working capital, trade finance)
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, including NCA, CPA, and FICA
  • Exposure to agricultural finance (primary and/or secondary sector) is advantageous

Key Competencies

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Sound knowledge of risk, compliance, and business principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary
