About the position

An established player in the food and agricultural sector is seeking a hands-on, detail-driven Cost Accountant to join their operational finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a solution-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about driving efficiency and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for costing across operations, including accurate product costing and margin analysis
  • Management and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Work-in-Progress (WIP)
  • Detailed tracking and analysis of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies and cost-saving initiatives
  • Continuous improvement of systems and reporting tools within the finance function
  • Work closely with operations to provide insights and support decision-making
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Cost Accountant / Management Accountant role within food, FMCG, or agri environments
  • Strong working knowledge of BOMs, WIP, and COGS
  • Demonstrated ability to drive efficiencies and system improvements
  • Highly analytical, logical thinker with strong problem-solving ability
  • Hands-on approach and comfortable working on the ground with operations
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Relevant finance qualification (CIMA / BCom or similar advantageous)
  • Own reliable transport is essential
