Our Client is looking for a Class III Process Controller to join their team
Location: Humansdorp / Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa
Job Purpose
To operate, monitor, and control water and/or wastewater treatment processes in accordance with regulatory standards and operational procedures. The role ensures optimal plant performance, compliance with safety and quality standards, and efficient delivery of treated water.
Minimum Requirements
- Class III Process Controller Certification (Water or Wastewater Treatment)
- Tertiary Qualification in:
- Analytical Chemistry, or
- Chemical Engineering
- 3–5 years’ experience in water or wastewater treatment operations
- Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, plant equipment, and chemical dosing systems
- Familiarity with South African water quality standards (e.g., SANS specifications)
- Computer literacy (MS Office; SCADA systems advantageous)
- Valid driver’s license
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Operations
- Operate and control treatment processes including abstraction, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, disinfection, and sludge handling
- Monitor plant performance using SCADA systems and routine inspections
- Adjust process parameters (e.g., chemical dosing, flow rates) to maintain compliance
- Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct routine sampling and testing (physical, chemical, and microbiological)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards
- Maintain accurate operational logs and records
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Identify and report plant faults or inefficiencies
- Perform basic maintenance and coordinate repairs
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions
- Health, Safety & Environment
- Comply with occupational health and safety regulations
- Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals
- Support environmental and sustainability practices
- Administration & Reporting
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Maintain records of chemical usage, plant performance, and incidents
- Assist with audits and inspections
