About the position
A well-established multidisciplinary company within the construction environment is seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to join their team in Centurion. Reporting directly to the Executive: Operational, this role offers an exciting opportunity for a driven engineering professional to contribute to a variety of civil engineering and construction projects while playing an active role in business development and company growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will be involved in the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, project execution, site management, and stakeholder engagement. This position is ideal for a technically strong and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Planning & Design:
- Design civil engineering works including roads, drainage systems, water infrastructure, earthworks, and building-related infrastructure.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Perform design calculations and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and regulations.
- Utilise design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and related engineering tools.
- Review and approve technical drawings and supporting design documentation.
Project & Site Management:
- Manage and supervise construction activities on-site from project inception through to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Conduct regular site inspections, quality assurance checks, and progress evaluations.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and site personnel.
- Resolve technical and construction-related challenges on-site effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate site records, project documentation, and progress reports.
Business Development:
- Assist in identifying and pursuing new business and project opportunities.
- Support the preparation of tenders, proposals, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project negotiations.
- Contribute to the company's growth strategy and market expansion initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise and input for project bids and commercial proposals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer registration, or eligibility for registration, will be advantageous.
- 3-7+ years experience in civil engineering and construction project environments.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles and construction methodologies.
- Experience in site supervision, project coordination, and project management.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar engineering software.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in infrastructure projects including roads, water systems, drainage, and buildings.
- Knowledge of contract administration and tender processes.
- Strong client-facing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Experience with project budgeting, cost control, and financial management.
