About the position
Our client is looking for three Business Unit Managers to be placed as follows: one in the Northern Cape (Kuruman), one in Witbank, and one in Mokopane. The successful candidates will be responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial management of their respective business units, driving growth and profitability while ensuring operational excellence and high levels of customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Group COO, the role includes leading teams, managing budgets and KPIs, supporting business development and tender activities, overseeing vendor and client relationships, and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s overall strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
· Responsible for the operational efficiencies and service delivery for the branch and clients
· Drive and improve upon key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve company goals.
· Develop, monitor, and ensure compliance with all Business Unit processes and procedures.
· Manage business activities focusing on financial and strategic growth of organization.
· Perform review and validation of system layouts and equipment.
Business Development
· Active participation in all tenders related to new national opportunities and national tenders on all existing accounts
· Be able to successfully sell and deliver all the company´s current and future products and services
· Create new marketing strategies
· Explore and analyse market trends and identify new opportunities in assigned region
· Coordinate with marketing team to develop and implement operational plans for new product launches
· Gather market research and market intelligence from the company sales force and other sources
· Develop product and technology solutions where required
· Give input to the product division for new products and go to market strategies
· Support the sales and service teams and product managers with product info to sell and input to marketing materials for lead generation and sales demand
· Conduct presentations to secure contracts or service level agreements
· Give input into pricing and margins
· Overall reporting to the vendors, including sales forecasting and inventory reports
Financial Acumen
· Develop, plan and manage individual short-term and long-term targets taking into account company priorities and constraints.
· Monitor and review project activities and ensure its completion within scheduled time and budget
· Manage start-up costs and finances of business unit by efficient financial management
· Assist in the framework of company annual budgets to align that to resources and action plans
· Business unit performance to budget mapped against sales performance to determine best course of action
· Align commissions to financial performance of the business unit and the company
Data Management and Reporting
· Work on requirements provided by senior management whenever required
· Constantly absorb, analyse and reflect the data that signals them to ascertain the health and alignment of the business unit.
· Spot the anomalies and risk and when this deviation is evident, assess them and make process improvements and changes.
Vendor Management
· Serve as a primary point of contact between the company and suppliers to facilitate and maintain a strong relationship.
· Contract negotiations.
· Manage, validate, and approve all invoices related to the department.
· Critically review the relevant contracts from internal and external suppliers.
Customer Service
· Promotes customer satisfaction philosophy to all levels of the organisation.
· Execute all client work awarded to the Business Unit with excellence, thus enhancing the company´s reputation both with its clients and in the marketplace for its services.
· Foster strong, loyal client relationships by giving both the client and the execution team strategic direction as appropriate to ensure money spent with the company provides a worthy ROI
· Build strong relationship with the customers in order to maintain good revenue growth.
People Management
· Lead a dynamic business unit and set the pace and example as leader, coach, and mentor to further build and strengthen the culture and skills of the team.
· Create harmonious working environment.
· Set appropriate standards with staff in terms of desired behaviour set clear boundaries around good and bad behaviour
