About the position

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business growth through the identification, development, and conversion of profitable contract logistics opportunities. The role requires strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to develop end-to-end logistics solutions aligned to client and organisational objectives. Emphasis to fuels and chemical product and sales exposure.

New Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the contract logistics sector.

  • Proactively generate sales leads through networking, market research, and industry engagement.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with prospective clients and key decision-makers.

  • Negotiate commercial terms and successfully close new business deals.

Solution Design & Value Creation:

  • Design integrated logistics solutions that optimise the value chain from post-production through to final delivery execution.

  • Collaborate with internal operational and support teams to ensure solutions are operationally feasible and commercially viable.

Sales Performance & Reporting:

  • Manage and report on the daily sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and visibility.

  • Submit monthly new-business and lead generation reports to the HOD and/or Senior Management.

  • Compile quarterly and annual performance reports in line with business requirements.

  • Measure performance against agreed growth plans, budgets, and revenue targets.

  • Monitor market trends and provide regular market intelligence and competitor analysis.

Financial & Data Analysis:

  • Conduct detailed data analysis to support pricing, cost modelling, and business case development.

  • Prepare and present professional business cases and proposals for approval.

Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure adherence to SHEQ standards, company policies, and legislative requirements at all times.

Minimum Requirements:
  • BCom Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent qualification.

  • Valid South African driver’s licence.

  • 8–10 years’ proven experience in a similar role within the contract logistics sales environment.

  • Demonstrated success in new business development and revenue growth.

  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, solution design, and commercial models.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
