About the position

Our Client is looking for a Barman to join their team
Location: Stellenbosch
 
Main Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service at all times and greet guests warmly in line with service standards.
• Understand the sequence of service and anticipate guest needs.
• Handle guest complaints and feedback professionally, escalating to the Restaurant Manager or Manager on Duty when required.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the menu and wine list, making informed recommendations.
• Ensure prompt and accurate service of beverages to pool and restaurant guests.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of cocktails and prepare drinks on request.
• Assist guests with special or non-menu requests, responding positively where possible.
• Check and restock the coffee station before each service or shift to ensure smooth barista operations.
• Perform cleaning duties as required, including polishing cutlery and glassware, cleaning floors, fridges, windows, and service areas such as buffet stations.
• Light and maintain fireplaces in the restaurant and bar during colder months.
• Accurately enter all transactions into the POS system.
• Complete end-of-shift cash-ups and ensure they are verified and signed off by the Manager on Duty.

 Experience and Skills

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role within a 5-star or luxury hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of bar setup, drink service, bar hygiene, and cocktail preparation.
• Familiarity with food and beverage equipment, tools, and operating procedures.
• Proficiency in POS systems (Easipos or similar).
• Excellent communication and guest service skills.
• Strong customer service orientation with attention to detail.
• Qualifications and Requirements
• Matric Certificate.
• Wine certification or mixology training is advantageous.
