My client, a leading design studio specialising in world-class hospitality and luxury experiences is seeking an experienced Associate - Interior Architecture & Design to join its Johannesburg-based team. This is an opportunity to play a strategic leadership role within a highly creative, design-led environment. The successful incumbent will lead and oversee interior design delivery across multiple high-end projects - from concept development through to procurement, installation, and final execution. The role combines:

The successful incumbent will work closely with Directors while guiding and mentoring Designers, Architects, Visualisation Artists, and Procurement teams. Key responsibilities will include: -
- Design Leadership & Project Delivery
- Lead luxury hospitality interior design projects end-to-end
- Ensure exceptional design quality and technical accuracy
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project teams
- Manage project timelines, budgets, risks, and delivery standards
- Drive consistency across documentation, BIM/Revit workflows, and FF&E processes
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a key client relationship lead
- Present concepts and design solutions professionally and confidently
- Collaborate with suppliers, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless execution
- Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and develop Interior Designers and Architects
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and design-driven culture
- Support onboarding, coaching, succession planning, and team development initiatives
- Business Development Support
- Assist with presentations, proposals, and client pitches
- Contribute to identifying and securing new project opportunities
Requirements / Criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Interior Architecture or Interior Design
- 7-10 years' Interior Design experience
- 2-3 years in a leadership or management capacity
- Proven hospitality design industry experience
- Strong technical detailing and implementation capability
- Ability to manage multiple high-end projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong eye for detail and design quality
- Project Management and Procurement experience will be highly advantageous.
