About the position

Postion Summary:
The NRF seeks to make an appointment of an Administrative Assistant in the SARChI function within the Strategic Investments, Innovation and Impact (SIII) Department of the Research, Innovation and Impact Support and Advancement (RIISA) Business Unit. To provide administrative support to the Manager and staff members in the Function and Department

Key Responsibilities:

  • General office administrationPreparing, submitting, capturing, and tracking invoices and payments, and other financial informationProactively managing the Managers and Professional Officers calendarsDocuments, data and records managementSupporting the directorate in the implementation of projects in a matrix environmentOrganising workshops and meetings (physical or virtual) including taking minutesArranging logistics (flights, accommodation, car hire) for local and international travelHandling and processing communication to the office (e

  • e-mail, telephone, mail)Liaising with internal and external stakeholdersCollating and distributing reports

Minimum Qualification:
  • Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:
  • 2-5 years
  • National Diploma in Administration or related field2-5 years appropriate operational and administration experienceProven experience as office assistant, virtual assistant or in another relevant administrative role

Experience:
  • Good financial administration / procurement experienceGood written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailAnalytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solvingStrong practical knowledge of office managementExperience of formatting and editing documentsAdvanced writing skills

Knowledge:
  • Proven competency in the use of MS Office suite, particularly with MS Word, PowerPoint and ExcelProven competency in the use of virtual platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, Skype)Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of stakeholdersAbility to manage time and to work under pressureAbility to work independently and within teams
