About the position
To provide professional accounting expertise and interpret financial information for the company to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Execute the monthly financial reporting process to ensure accurate and timeous financial reporting.
- Prepare the Statement of Assets and Liabilities (SAL) and related notes; and the Financial Review for accuracy in accordance with company policies, relevant accounting standards and legislation.
- Prepare the income tax computation, value-added tax (VAT) calculation and related returns for accuracy and compliance with tax legislation.
- Prepare the relevant accounts reconciliations for accuracy in line with the approved reconciliations policy.
- Perform the fixed assets management processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Administer the quality and delivery of monthly financial reports, tax calculations and account reconciliations.
- Perform the first line authorisation of payments, accounting transactions and data captured by the Financial Accountants ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeous delivery.
- Actively participate in cross functional teams and projects and provide financial reporting input.
- Ensure the adherence to processes and internal controls to ensure the validity and accuracy of financial results.
- Propose and implement the refinement and continuous improvement of systems, tools, controls, methods and processes in own area of work.
- Participate in stakeholder engagements (internal and external) specifically relating to financial reporting.
- Stay current with developments in financial reporting and central banking and ensure the application thereof.
- Review and supervise fixed assets accounting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
- A Chartered Accountant (SA) (NQF 8) qualification;
- A minimum of 3?5 years’ experience in preparing annual financial statements; and
- Setting up sustainability reporting will be an added advantage.
