Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Academic Programme Leadership & Management
- Lead and oversee the assigned Digital Marketing academic programme in alignment with institutional strategy.
- Establish and maintain the programme philosophy and academic direction.
- Lead the rollout and readiness of new and existing programmes.
- Manage the programme lifecycle and ensure effective academic operations.
- Monitor student throughput, retention, articulation, dropout rates and academic performance.
- Identify and implement interventions for at-risk students.
- Collaborate with academic support services to enhance student success.
Programme Planning & Academic Administration
- Plan and coordinate programme academic activities and administration.
- Conduct academic staff induction and support effective academic delivery.
- Coordinate comprehensive student orientation.
- Identify suitable academics for content development, teaching, assessment and related academic activities.
- Ensure programme information is accurate and aligned across institutional platforms, including websites and prospectuses.
- Contribute to programme budget management and programme value proposition initiatives.
Teaching, Learning & Student Engagement
- Facilitate webinars and contribute to postgraduate academic delivery.
- Oversee assessment development, moderation and grading.
- Supervise postgraduate students.
- Develop and monitor effective teaching and learning strategies.
- Ensure teaching and learning activities align with programme outcomes.
- Promote academic integrity and excellence in curriculum delivery.
- Drive initiatives that support student engagement, academic performance and student success.
Programme Intelligence, Governance & Quality Assurance
- Monitor programme performance through data analysis, trend analysis and benchmarking.
- Gather and interpret longitudinal student and programme performance data.
- Compile and submit reports on programme performance and academic operations.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and address programme conditions and recommendations from regulatory bodies.
- Lead programme and module reviews and support continuous programme improvement.
- Monitor, evaluate and manage academic programme risks.
- Support programme realignment and teach-out processes where required.
- Participate in academic committees, institutional audits and academic events.
Industry & Student Career Relevance
- Promote appropriate community engagement initiatives.
- Provide programme-specific career guidance in collaboration with the Career Centre.
- Contribute relevant Digital Marketing and Social Media Marketing expertise to ensure academic knowledge remains relevant to the evolving education and digital landscape.
Desired Experience & Qualification
What You Bring
Minimum Qualification
- Master's Degree specialising in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing or a cognate field in Digital Marketing, at NQF Level 9.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing or relevant cognate qualification will be considered in accordance with the requirements of the role.
Experience
- 3-5 years' experience in Higher Education as an Academic and/or in Academic Management.
- Strong academic knowledge and understanding of the evolving higher education environment.
- Experience in Higher Education Academic Management will be advantageous.
- 2 years' experience in Learner Management System (LMS) administration/coordination will be advantageous.
